How to Compare EV Fast-Charging Claims: Peak kW, SOC Window and Test Conditions

A peak charging power and a charging-time claim answer different questions. Compare the stated SOC window and conditions before planning a journey around either figure.

A peak value is not the whole session

A DC peak reference identifies a maximum under stated conditions; it does not establish the average power throughout charging. A timed interval describes energy added across a particular state-of-charge window. Keep both fields where the manufacturer publishes them. Do not divide a full battery capacity by peak power and call the result the promised stop duration.

Match the start and finish percentages

The G9 references distinguish 20–80% EREV charging from 30–80% BEV charging. BYD Seal 06 GT cites a different 10–97% interval under flash-charging conditions. These claims cannot be ranked fairly by minutes alone. Record the starting SOC, ending SOC, battery configuration and test conditions before drawing a comparison.

The charger must support the actual vehicle

Investigate the charging equipment available along the intended route and the vehicle’s installed inlet and capability. A manufacturer demonstration on a suitable station does not establish the same result on another network. Battery temperature, state and charger conditions also affect a session. Ask for compatibility evidence specific to the offered car and destination rather than a generic fast-charging slogan.

Use a session record for a realistic discussion

If an inspection includes charging, agree what to record: car identity, start and end SOC, elapsed charging time, charger display and any errors. A single session shows what happened under those circumstances; it does not prove all-weather performance or every station’s operation. Use it to verify the installed equipment and identify unanswered questions before shipment.

Turn the comparison into an order

Start with the complete factory designation, then record the battery, drive, seat layout and equipment you require. Ask for an itemized quotation with the vehicle allocation basis, selected options, inspection and shipment scope. A family image illustrates the model; it does not show available stock or prove the exact trim. When a VIN is allocated, compare its vehicle record and inspection findings with the accepted specification.

Compare Seal 06 GT charging reference; G9 EREV 20–80% interval; G9 BEV 30–80% interval. Send an enquiry with your destination country and port, quantity and preferred colours. Agree the inspection scope before shipment.
