A special-purpose truck is a vehicle plus a working system. Its quotation should identify the chassis, body builder and equipment separately, then show how those items form the complete vehicle. A capacity figure alone does not describe a usable garbage truck, water tanker, sewer-cleaning vehicle or refrigerated truck.
Prepare these details before requesting a quote
| Decision | Information to prepare |
|---|---|
| Chassis identity | Exact export model, steering side, wheelbase, engine and load limits |
| Body and equipment | Builder, materials, dimensions, working capacity, component models and interfaces |
| Acceptance evidence | Identity, finished dimensions, mass information and relevant function records |
| Service and delivery | Component responsibilities, manuals, consumables, training, packing and shipping terms |
1. Define the operational result
Describe the task, working media or cargo, route, daily cycles, operating hours and environment. Give the destination, quantity and steering-side requirement for the road chassis. Explain how the vehicle will load, work and unload in normal service.
For a collection vehicle, state waste type and bin system. For water delivery, distinguish potable delivery from non-potable spraying. For sewer work, state whether vacuum collection, high-pressure jetting or both are needed. For refrigeration, specify the cargo and required temperature under the actual ambient and door-opening conditions.
2. Identify the chassis
Request the manufacturer and complete chassis model, cab, LHD/RHD factory version, engine, gearbox, wheelbase, brakes, tyres and gross/axle limits. Chassis documentation should match the proposed build. Steering-side availability is confirmed with the manufacturer rather than inferred from a catalogue image.
Ask for finished-vehicle mass and axle-loading evidence once the body and working equipment are selected. A tank or large body can reach a mass limit before its physical volume is fully used.
3. Specify the body and interfaces
Identify the body builder, drawing, mounting method, material, dimensions, empty mass and access points. List mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control interfaces between the chassis and working system. The supplier should identify how the equipment is powered and which controls and interlocks are included.
For a compactor, confirm body volume, bin lifting, leachate containment and the agreed compaction function. For a water truck, specify the tank and every wetted component for the intended water use. For a combined cleaning vehicle, distinguish clean-water and waste-tank capacities.
4. Name the working equipment
Use model-specific equipment lines. Pump selection requires the working media, flow and pressure/head conditions. Jetting and vacuum systems need their own duty information, hoses and fittings. Refrigeration requires capacity at stated conditions, drive or standby power, controls and temperature-recording requirements.
Separate standard equipment from optional accessories. Do not assume that an illustrated body, pump, lifter or refrigeration unit is included unless the offer identifies it.
5. Agree acceptance evidence
Define the inspection and factory acceptance scope before production or purchase. It can cover identity, dimensions, equipment, documented mass/axle information and relevant functional demonstrations using the manufacturer’s safe procedures. Identify who witnesses the tests and what records are supplied.
For refrigeration, agree the temperature test conditions and recording method. For pumps and collection equipment, agree which duty and function evidence will be demonstrated. Specialist use may require further destination evidence; broad global-approval claims should be replaced by configuration-specific documents.
6. Clarify support and commercial scope
State the chassis, body and equipment warranty responsibilities, manuals, parts list, consumables, training and commissioning scope. Identify packing, freight, insurance and destination responsibilities under the agreed trade terms. Confirm production and shipping estimates for the exact order.
A practical bill of materials lists chassis; body; working equipment; controls and safety items; accessories; spares; inspection; packing; and transport. Comparing that list across offers makes omissions easier to detect.
Start with a complete project brief
Send destination and port, LHD/RHD, quantity, application, capacity, work conditions and equipment requirements. Auto From China coordinates the chassis and equipment enquiries with manufacturers and body builders, then confirms an itemized configuration proposal.

RHD integration and factory acceptance responsibilities
Confirm the factory RHD chassis separately from the completed special vehicle. The body supplier should identify the approved interface arrangement, completed mass and axle loading, controls and destination documentation for that exact chassis and body. Access to an RHD base does not establish the approval or availability of every medical, environmental or service conversion.
| Acceptance layer | Evidence agreed before inspection | Responsible party to name |
|---|---|---|
| Chassis | Model, steering, VIN, engine and manufacturer documents | Chassis supplier |
| Body and equipment | Identified BOM, interfaces, dimensions and normal controls | Body/equipment supplier |
| Completed vehicle | Weighing basis, axle limits, agreed demonstrations and exceptions | Complete-vehicle provider and inspector |
| Destination | Required approval, registration and commissioning scope | Importer and competent local process |
| Support | Manuals, component references and diagnosis/repair escalation | Named support providers |
Use a written acceptance schedule with each check’s method, expected result, evidence and sign-off. Demonstrations follow manufacturer instructions on a suitable site; no improvised overload or high-risk tests. Record exceptions and agreed resolution before shipment release. An inspection of commercial conformity is separate from statutory destination approval.

Questions buyers ask
Why separate chassis, body and equipment in the quotation?
Each can have a different model identity, supplier, mass contribution and service responsibility. A complete schedule helps the buyer compare the finished vehicle and identify exclusions.
Does the application name define a complete vehicle?
No. A garbage, water, cleaning or refrigerated truck still needs an identified chassis, body and working equipment configuration, with drawings and operating conditions.
How should factory steering side be handled?
State factory LHD or RHD with destination and quantity. Ask for the exact chassis version and export documentation while reviewing the body and equipment package separately.
What working-duty information matters most?
Describe the material or cargo, capacity, route, operating cycle, access and required functions. Include environmental conditions and any existing interfaces such as bins, hoses or power supplies.
Who should be responsible for service and manuals?
Require the quotation to identify responsibility for chassis and working equipment separately. List manuals, initial spares, commissioning, warranty scope and service arrangements.
What is a useful acceptance package?
Agree model and identity checks, drawings, mass basis, document handover, functional demonstrations and recorded exceptions. Define who reviews the evidence before release.
Send the destination, quantity and operating requirements. We will review the exact manufacturer version and the items to include in your offer.
