LHD and RHD New Vehicles from China: Build a Model-Specific Export Enquiry

Steering side is a configuration requirement for a new-vehicle enquiry. It should be confirmed together with model identity, powertrain, body, order quantity and destination documents. A broad market label is not enough to establish that a particular vehicle can be supplied.

Prepare these details before requesting a quote

Decision Information to prepare
Destination and use Country, port, fleet task and required steering side
Factory identity Exact model code, LHD / RHD factory version, engine, gearbox, cab and wheelbase
Body and equipment Builder, finished dimensions, working system and interfaces
Order and handover Quantity, production estimates, documents, inspection, manuals and service support

1. Start with the destination and intended use

State the destination country, delivery port and whether the vehicle is for distribution, contracting, fleet operations or a specialist service. Identify the required steering side and any buyer-specific technical standard. The final offered configuration should be reviewed against those requirements before an order is agreed.

For machinery, identify the equipment separately. A tractor is selected around operator layout, PTO, hitch and hydraulics. A farm utility vehicle or agricultural transport vehicle has its own intended-use and destination questions. Road-truck LHD/RHD labels do not replace those specifications.

2. Distinguish domestic stock from factory export sourcing

A domestic vehicle listing describes one particular vehicle or domestic-market version. Factory export sourcing involves confirmation of a proposed manufacturer build. Neither a steering wheel in a photograph nor the presence of an overseas sales page proves that every engine or body option is available in both layouts.

Auto From China accepts both LHD and RHD new-vehicle enquiries through its relationships with vehicle manufacturers. This allows us to discuss export-version and order requirements at the manufacturer level. The outcome still needs to be confirmed for the exact model and quantity.

3. Request an identified factory configuration

Ask for the complete manufacturer model code, steering layout, engine and emissions package, gearbox, brakes, cab, wheelbase and tyre configuration. For a complete commercial vehicle, include the body builder and finished dimensions. For a special vehicle, include the working equipment and its interfaces.

Specify whether the request is for a factory LHD or factory RHD build. Any proposed modification should be disclosed, documented and checked separately; it should not be represented as an original factory export version without evidence.

4. Confirm quantity and timing for the actual order

Ask the manufacturer to identify the order requirements, available configuration choices and production timing. A model family can include different export versions or batches. Avoid applying one advertised lead time to every chassis and body combination.

Separate production readiness, inspection and preparation, port handling and transport estimates. Clarify the point at which the quoted delivery period begins and which changes to the technical brief could affect it.

5. Match documents to the proposed build

Request the available manufacturer model sheet, vehicle identification information, export documents and any destination-specific evidence being offered. The document scope should name the same chassis and configuration as the quotation.

The importer should verify the local import and registration requirements for that exact vehicle and intended use. A broad statement that a brand exports worldwide is not a substitute for model-specific documentation.

6. Plan service and handover

Agree the manuals, maintenance schedule, diagnostics, initial consumables and spare-parts package. State who is responsible for chassis, body and working-system warranty support, and whether training or commissioning is included.

For a fleet, use one configuration schedule for each proposed version so that model codes, steering side, body and supplied options stay consistent across the offer, inspection and handover records.

What to send us

Destination country and port; LHD or RHD; model or application; quantity; cargo/workload; preferred body; service needs; and the documents your importer requires. We use this brief to review an identified export build with the manufacturer.

Factory-order evidence before VIN allocation

Our new-vehicle programme covers LHD and factory-built RHD enquiries through manufacturer relationships. The exact export model, destination, quantity and production terms determine the offer. A factory-order proposal may be assessed before a VIN exists: first obtain the manufacturer’s model code, steering and configuration schedule, then reconcile VIN-linked build records when allocation occurs.

Keep an overseas RHD brochure, the factory offer and the allocated vehicle as three distinct records. Record which options belong to the delivered version, who supplies destination documents and what happens if production changes the agreed specification. Confirm model availability, MOQ and estimated production timing in writing without extending one model’s offer to the whole catalogue.

Order stage Evidence to establish Condition for the next stage
Initial enquiry Destination, factory model/version, RHD and cargo duty Manufacturer confirms the proposal can be assessed
Technical offer Factory model code, body, seats, engine and steering schedule Buyer and importer review the same defined vehicle
Commercial offer Quantity, deposit, production milestones and cancellation/substitution terms Unresolved approval conditions are recorded
VIN allocation VIN-linked build record and configuration confirmation Allocated vehicles correspond to the accepted offer
Pre-shipment Matching photos, documents and agreed inspection results Required evidence and exceptions are reconciled

Before allocation, review the dated factory configuration and its proposed steering. After allocation, reconcile actual cab, pedals, model plate and cargo-body photographs against each VIN. A separate-market brochure or family image does not establish the delivered build.

Relevant product briefs

Use these live briefs to prepare a configuration enquiry. The photographs and manufacturer references do not establish current stock or a confirmed export offer.

Questions buyers ask

Does Auto From China review factory RHD new vehicles?

Yes. New road-vehicle enquiries can cover factory LHD and RHD through manufacturer relationships. Availability is reviewed for the exact model, destination, quantity and proposed configuration.

Does that mean every Chinese model is available in both steering versions?

No. Request confirmation of the specific factory build and export documents. A brand relationship or model-family page does not establish a worldwide range of supplied versions.

What should I state at the start of the enquiry?

Give destination country and port, intended use, factory steering side, quantity, vehicle or chassis category, body needs and timing. Include any written local requirements already identified.

Is steering side enough to establish destination suitability?

No. Ask for the exact build and document schedule, and have the appropriate destination specialist review the applicable requirements before committing to an order.

Do tractors use the same LHD/RHD enquiry logic?

Agricultural machinery should be selected around the work, operator arrangement and tractor–implement interfaces. Road-vehicle steering labels should not replace a PTO, hitch and hydraulic matching review.

Does a previous supply example prove current availability?

A previous shipment can provide useful context, but a new enquiry still needs confirmation of the offered factory version, quantity, documents and schedule. Request these details in writing for the current order.
